Your brain can sign the paperwork of forgiveness while your heart keeps pulling up the file. If you’ve ever thought, “I forgave them… so why am I angry again?” you are not alone. We start with a painfully relatable reality: a small moment can trigger a big reaction, and suddenly the replay button is pressed all over again.

From there, we dig into a difference that changes everything: forgiveness is a decision, but healing is a process. Using John 20, we look at how Jesus walks into a locked room, speaks “peace be with you,” and still shows his wounds. Healing is not pretending you were never hurt. The wound can be real, the memory can be real, and the pain can be real, yet it doesn’t have to author your future. We also talk honestly about how hard it is to offer peace when there’s been no apology, no remorse, and no accountability.

Then we get practical. We lay out three anchors for moving forward: understanding, practice, and scars. We learn from Thomas and the way Jesus meets him with something tangible, because forgiveness is an action that takes practice. When triggers show up, we can pause, breathe, pray, journal, and set healthy boundaries that protect healing without pretending nothing happened. Finally, we reframe scars as proof that wounds can heal and take on new meaning through faith.
